ABOUT
As a descendent of Oregon's Aurora Colony (1800's pioneer-craftspeople) - much of Carrie's work is influenced by time spent on her family's nineteenth century farm. Inspired by rural, early American life - Von Kiel has always been fascinated with folk design and distilled abstraction; exploring the impact of monochromatic form with hand-inking and printmaking.

A Portland native, Carrie has been a designer and graphic artist for nearly two decades.
Currently Von Kiel's printmaking work is influenced by graphic artist Andy Warhol - and his innovative use of repeating print patterns. As Carrie explores his body of work, she is most drawn to the monochromatic celebrity pieces and their similarity to the tessellation (tiling) of quilt blocks. Although with her own artwork, Von Kiel aims to impart a contrasting perspective driven by an eclectic mix of anonymous subjects from America's West.
Carrie's artwork is held in both private and public collections, as well as by Fortune 500 companies. She is available for commissions and public art installations.
